What fun it is to be a Grandma!!!

One of the things I enjoy the most, is when my Grandchildren have a birthday. Many times we get together as a large group and celebrate the birthdays for the month, so I like to have a date with the grandchildren on their actual birthdays. I guess it is because I think - out of all the days of the year - one of them is for you! So I think everybody should have something special happen on that special day and I just like to help make it special.

So I got to take Ethan who just turned 4 years old out for ice cream and to pick out a toy. It's amazing how these little children will open up and talk to me when we are by ourselves. I love to see the wonder in their eyes at everything around them. It makes me remember the wonder of my own children when they were young.
This is Ethan's Dad (Alan) when he turned 4 years old. He was a fun and loving little boy that we enjoyed having in our family. He is now a fun and wonderful father to a cute and wonderful little family.
Happy Birthday Ethan!! I love you!
I think Ethan has Alan's smile

Conference Quilt

So every Conference my husband likes to take all his boys out to dinner after the Priesthood session. So that leaves all the girls (Me, my daughter and my daughters-in-law and future daughter-in-law and all the grandchildren) with nothing to do, so we gathered together last night at my home. I thought it would be fun to tie a quilt, so I looked through my stuff and found a quilt top that my mom had put together - I'm sure several years ago - with materials that were from scraps of material that she had used over the years for all the clothes that she had sewn. I remembered several pieces of fabric. It was kind of fun remembering those old fabrics. Anyway, after eating and visiting we got down to it and finished in no time. Now I just need to finish the border. Let's see how long that takes me. The boys didn't get home till about 10:15. I think everybody was ready to go home by then. The kids seemed to have fun playing though.

My oldest granddaughter (8) Janette cleaned up our family room before she left and she didn't just put away the toys that the kids played with she straightened the bookshelves and arranged the remotes all neatly on the side table. She is such a good little worker.
