The Weddding of Whitney & Bryce

As I said in my previous blog, we came down to San Diego to see our Niece get married. It was being held at a beautiful venue in Fallbrook. This is looking down to where we were going to be seated for the wedding ceremony. You can see back up the hill where the reception was going to be held. All the wedding party walked down the path to the gazebo.Wendy was escorted in by her son Dustin. She looked so beautiful. This is the first time we got to see Wendy, since we got there. She was busy getting ready for the day.Whitney's younger sister, Courtney. She looked so beautiful and grown up.Bryce anxiously waiting for his bride to come down the aisle.Bryce with his groomsmen. They were all wearing tennis shoes with their Tuxes.Whitney and her father, Jerry came down in a horse drawn carriage. Very quaint.Whitney and her Dad marching down the aisle.Jerry handing over Whitney to Bryce. The deed is done and they are married! The Mothers clapping and are happy! The couple leave in the Carriage.Part of the ceremony was pouring sand into this container, to signify joining to families into one.It was so sunny, they had little parasols to give us some shade. Don't I look cute! Now to the reception! Wendy is so happy that all the planning is done and she can relax and enjoy the party. We got to sit at the table with Wendy and Jerry, the Bishop and his wife and Terry. The first Dance! The Happy Couple! The gorgeous wedding cake which carried on the theme of the peacock feathers. Believe it or not those feathers are made of frosting!Courtney and Dustin!Whitney and Wendy. I think both are happy that everything went smoothly.Time for toasting. The best man gave a great toast, then Jerry got up and told some nice stories and gave a tribute to the happy couple. It was really nice.Cutting the cake.Whitney is going to throw the bouquet.
Here she goes! And her Maid of Honor caught the bouquet. Happy Ending!
It was a fun wedding and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Whitney and Bryce for including us in their wedding!

Derek and I went to San Diego to attend a wedding of our Neice. Before we went to the wedding, Derek wanted to visit a hamburger shop that his Assistant told him about. It's funny, we were born and raised in San Diego, but we had to have a Utahn tell us about this restaurant. It is located in Ocean Beach and it was a small little place and you wouldn't think it was that great. But they had great hamburgers. When we got there, you were supposed to seat yourself and if there weren't any seats available, just wait for one to come available. So we waited a while and then Derek went in and looked at this Van. IT had seats and a table in it. So we availed ourselves to the situation. It was kind of fun.
This was what our table looked like from inside the car.It was a fun way to start of our Mini-Vacation!It was great food and interesting atmosphere. I would recommend it.

It's fun to play dress up!

Kathryn had asked Grandma if she was getting rid of any old costume jewelry, would she bring it up to her. So here are the kids having fun with the costume jewelry.Janette pinned all the pins on her shirt. She was making a fashion statement, I think!

Lex's 4th Birthday

Another birthday to celebrate. Little Lex turned 4 this month and since his birthday was on Sunday, which we celebrated with his family on the day before, I took him out for ice cream on Monday. Kathryn was home from the hospital and Kimber was asleep and all the others were at school, so Lex and I had a date.I like Coldstone Ice Cream. The kids like it too. Especially because they get to put gummy bears in their ice cream.Lex was so happy to find a toy. He had fun showing it to his brothers and sisters.

It's fun being with Grandkids!

I went down to Kathryn's to watch her kids while she went to the hospital for a procedure. It hopefully was only going to be a in and out thing, but it ended up being more major than they thought. So I got to stay with the Grandkids for the week. Lex giving me a love sign!Visiting Kathryn in the Hospital after major surgery. She had to stay there all week to get some heavy duty doses of anti-biotics. She is such a trooper. It just happened to be the week that Jason was going to his first day of Kindergarten. It also was western wear day, so this is what Jason wore on his very first day of School.
Lex was left home and was making fun of grandma for taking pictures!
Jason after a successful first day of Kindergarten. He was so excited to tell me what he did. It was so funny because he told me that there was a big box of candy in his classroom and they got to pick whatever they wanted out of it. I asked him if he wanted to call his Mom and tell her all about it, but then he said, Nah I was just kidding, there wasn't any candy. That kid is such a crackup.I didn't get any other pictures this week. It was busy and fun, but pictures weren't really on mind. I am so glad that Kathryn is fine!

Photoshoot with Garrick

I got to watch Garrick for awhile one day, so I decided to do a little photo shoot. He is just so cute. I love his smiles

Family Campout at Yuba Lake Aug 14th

A couple days after I got back from San Diego, we had a family campout planned for Yuba Lake. I have never been there before, so I thought it would be fun to try it. Everybody just camps right on the shore of the lake as you can see behind these two jokesters, Jason and Ethan.Kaitlyn was enjoying playing in the Sand (mud) along the shore. The only thing was that it was quite windy and the temperature dropped, so it wasn't as warm as we would have liked.Haden and Lex drawing in the Sand.Kathryn, Jared and Kimber just relaxing and enjoying the wind?Little Chloe loves camping.
Dan working on the Dutch Oven dinner we had that night. Alicia and Jacqui make the best dutch oven dinners. It was so good.Everybody was hungry and we all enjoyed dinner together. I don't think we got too much sand in our food that evening.
You can kind of see the set up of our campsite. We tried to shield our tents from some of the wind, but then it would change direction and come from a different angle. Oh Well!

Me holding Chloe. Not a great picture of me, but at least I got one. After the sun went down, we built the campfire and settled down for smores and campfire jokes. The grandkids loved telling their jokes to each other. Even if they don't make sense, they are in the spotlight and that is what matters.
Two little cousins getting to know each other better. One little girl just konked out for the night. We all went to bed late or at least to our tents and listened to the wind howl till the early morning. Then when we woke up it was silent, no wind, until after breakfast, it started up again. Several of us went out on the Lake on Jared's family's boat and had a fun time. No pictures of that though. When I got back and was watching some of the kids a huge whirlwind of sand came through our camp and destroyed Alan and Jacqui's tent. I rushed the kids into my car and we spent a while in the car because the kids were afraid to get caught in a sandstorm again. So we had fun eating snacks and telling stories. All in all it was an adventure. Probably not the best campout I have been on. (Couldn't wait to get home and shower) But I think the Grandkids will remember it (especially the sandstorm)and the memories are what count!
