The Big Move

August started with helping my Mom finish packing up and getting ready to make her big move. When I got there, so much had already been packed up, but we still had a lot to do. So we got busy! You can see the garage was filled with packed boxes.
Marcia and I spent all day on Saturday taking stuff to the D.I. Truck. This was Mom's old sewing machine that nobody wanted. So we gave it a new home to someone who might get some use out of it. There were many other items that found new homes.Another day found Mom and I tackleing the mirrors. She had several large mirrors that we found some boxes for and we spent the day getting them all packed up. I was amazed that we were able to do it all by ourselves. Some good friends of Mom's held a going away party for her. Me, Mom and Marcia enjoying ourselves at the party. It was a nice evening and she had a lot of friends show up.The Moving Van arrived. It was a huge truck that usually accomodates several families that are moving. At first Mom and one other group were the only ones going to be on the truck, but by mid-morning they had a couple other clients to fill the truck. It was interesting how fast and well they packed that truck. The garage door was broken and they had to prop it up so they could get into the garage to get all the boxes. But we did it.Mom leaving her home that she lived in for 38 years. Mom and Dad moved there when I was 15 years old. It will be wierd and different not to visit there anymore. But I am excited to have Mom live up here by me.A last look at the old home in San Carlos, San Diego. Many good memories were made there!
