The Coast and Gold's Beach

So as I wrote before we started out from the south coast of Oregon and headed north. This is the first beach we hit and we just had to get out and wander around.Somebodies shoes left sitting lonely on the log. I wondered if they would be claimed or if they would sit there until the tide came in.
This was our first look at all the drift wood that comes down the rivers and then is thrown up by the tide along the shores. I thought it was pretty cool looking. My handsome husband posing for me if front of some beautiful scenery.I was just so happy to be on our way along the coast. Hee Hee
From time to time we stopped and took a little walk along some trails. It was so beautiful and lush.Along one of the trails we came to this cave of trees. The shrubs and trees were so dense that the trail just went into a little cave.I stepped inside the trail a little ways and it was completely incased with overgrowth. I had to really enhance this picture to show you what it looked like, because it was really dark.
Looking back the way I came. We would have liked to hike down the trail a ways. It went down the cliff to the sea. But I don't think my knees would have liked it coming back up. Besides we were in a hurry to see it all.More cliffs and seascapes. It was so beautiful.

Our Cozy room at Gold's Beach. It was so nice and comfortable. We were a 5 minute walk to the beach. Not too far away. The next day we decided to take a river trip up the Rogue River. They go 52 miles up the river in these Jet boats. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun.You can tell we look like we are going to have a lot fun.We saw a lot of birds. Here is a Blue Heran. This is a vulture sunning itself. We saw a lot of these birds feeding on stuff. yech!!We actually saw several Bald Eagles. This is the best shot we could get. They would fly above us and our tour guide would spot them and we would stop and watch them for awhile. Pretty neat. We saw several nest along the way also.We stopped and talked to a couple of fishing boats to see what they had caught. This guy showed us his salmon. That was all they had caught. I guess the fishing wasn't very good.At one point they made us put our life jackets on because we were going to hit some whitewater.

The white water wasn't too rough, only a little fun and we got a little wet in some areas, which only helped to cool us off a bit. The funnest part was when our Tour Guide would do a 360 spin in the water just for fun because he could.Speaking of our Tour Guide. He looked and talked just like Wilford Brimley (a TV actor) It was so funny to listen to him, because he sounded so much like him and then when we turned around to look at him he had the mustach and white hair too. Too funny! This is the real Wilford Brimley.Looking at the Jet boat from above when we stopped for lunchWhen we got back we saw all these harbor seals just basking in the sun. They were trying to get us to take one home. I guess they are kind of a menace in the harbors.
