Treasures???

So we've been cleaning out the garage all week and I told my Mom she needed to throw this poster away. I made it when I was about 14, when my sisters and I sang at a talent show for the ward. She has had it hanging above her dryer for about 38 years. I told her we could take a picture of it and then we could throw it away.
This was another one of those things it was hard for her to part with, but has been sitting in the garage for over 38 years. It was a handmade wall hanging she did years ago.
We made some progress and reached back into a corner that hasn't seen the light of day for two decades. It was so dusty that we decided we had better put on some kerchiefs to filter the dust.
Most of the stuff in the truck is mostly from Mom's garage (not really but a lot of it is)
So we found some cans of dehydrated food cans hidden down way back under stuff and so we thought we would open one up to see if it was still good. (We were not sure how old it is, but judging from the label, probably over 30 years)
It doesn't look too bad, so we thought we would hydrate them. We had to soak them for 5 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
This is what they looked like. Mom tasted the cherries and said it wasn't bad. Brave woman. I was not going to put that in my mouth. I want to live. But she tried one of the other pieces of fruit. She said it tasted a little funny. We threw it all away. P.S. Mom is doing fine...

Please please please don't tell me you threw away the bird wall hanging...it's incredible!!! I could design an entire room around it...maybe a nursery? If you haven't chucked it yet, hide it somewhere and we'll bring it back with us after we visit this spring. *fingers crossed*
And so happy Grandma survived the fruit experiment. REALLY cool cans! Did you happen to save those? They're so neat! Derek told us tonight about all the greeting cards...SO funny about Jeph's from his mission. :)

Haha, Hannah's funny.

I can NOT believe that Grandma ate that stuff. Brave woman!

I'm way jealous that you get to go through old stuff. Thats my dream job, if there is such a job.

I'm completely serious Jacqui. Completely. That kind of art is amazing. People pay hundreds of dollars for reproductions in etsy shops all over the place. This one though is priceless being that it was handmade by Grandma. I'll just be sick if it goes to a random DI somewhere. Even Rita's poster is SO awesome. I could do something amazing with it too. Really.

Hannah,
I went and retrieved the bird wall hanging from the DI Truck, but the poster is long gone - so sorry. Anyway, I hope you like it.

OHHHH!!!! YAY!!!! THANK YOU SO SO VERY MUCH RITA!! I really figured it was long gone...I'm SO EXCITED it isn't!! I'm sure it was a hassle for you to get it from that full truck (ESPECIALLY on Sunday) so now it will be even more of a treasure!! Really, thank you SO much! You are SO sweet. Love you!!! I'm so lucky to have a Mother-in-law like you...not just for this reason...but for SO many. See you soon!
