Then I saw the Orthopedist, who told me it had moved and I had a choice, I could do surgery and start rehab in a couple of weeks and not to have a cast or I could let it heal the way it was, but it might hurt for the rest of my life when I turned my wrist. I opted for surgery (I didn't want to wear a cast or hurt for the rest of my life. This is after surgery, which was about 11 days after I broke my wrist.Monday, September 27, 2010
Oops!
Well, this is hard to admit. I am a klutz! For the second time this year I had a pretty severe and stupid accident. I hurried into the laundry room where our dog has been living and slipped on some of her spilled slimy dogwater. As I fell backward I put my left arm down to brace my fall and sure enough, I fractured my wrist. It completely broke and needed to be reset, because it was displaced. Yech!! After two times setting it in the ER, they sent me home for 10 days.
Then I saw the Orthopedist, who told me it had moved and I had a choice, I could do surgery and start rehab in a couple of weeks and not to have a cast or I could let it heal the way it was, but it might hurt for the rest of my life when I turned my wrist. My arm was totally and completely dead. No feeling at all. It felt like this big heavy dead thing attached to my body. Wierd feeling.
Today almost 3 months from surgery, the bone is still healing and I just finished up therapy (all that insurance would help with anyway) The wrist is still stiff and the fingers are stiff. I am told it will take a long time for things to heal in there. Oh well, I am just not patient. At least I can type and put my clothes on and somewhat use my left hand. We don't know how much we appreciate something until we lose the ability to have it. I am thankful that I have this much use so far.
